Dr. Margaret Churchill is a
registered patent attorney with more than a decade of experience in the
preparation and prosecution of United States and international patent
applications. Prior to obtaining her law degree, Dr. Churchill was a laboratory
scientist for the New Mexico State Health Lab and a postdoctoral research fellow
at the City of Hope National Medical Center, specializing in molecular virology
and diagnostics.
Dr. Churchill has experience
handling inventions in a variety of emerging technologies. Her areas of
expertise include: Chemistry (e.g., organic synthesis and characterization of
polymers, small molecules, and combinatorial libraries), Pharmaceutics (e.g.,
drug screening and detection, formulations for improved drug delivery and
stability), Biotechnology (e.g., nucleic acid synthesis, detection and
sequencing; recombinant proteins and peptides), Material Science (e.g.,
polymers, ceramics, adhesives, fluorescent and luminescent dyes) and
Nanotechnology (e.g., nanotube synthesis, nanoparticle assembly, nanolithography
and fuel cell technology).
In addition to assisting
clients in acquiring and protecting their intellectual property rights,
Dr. Churchill provides counseling and opinions concerning patentability, patent validity, infringement, freedom to operate and due diligence matters.
