Sheldon Mak Rose & Anderson Launches Intellectual Property Alternative Dispute Resolution Group
Pasadena, CA - Sheldon Mak Rose & Anderson PC, (SMRA) an intellectual property law firm, has established the Intellectual Property Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Group. This group will provide neutrals for mediation, arbitration, ENE and other ADR proceedings, and also represent clients in these proceedings. Headed by shareholder and certified mediator and Registered Patent Attorney Jeffrey G. Sheldon, the group will offer clients access to highly skilled mediators and arbitrators with extensive expertise in the complex area of intellectual property. SMRA attorney Les Weinstein, a member of the American Arbitration Association's Complex Case, Patent, and International Panels and a member of the US District Court Panel of Neutrals, will spearhead the group with Mr. Sheldon.
"We formed this group in response to a need among clients, courts and the bar for specialized IP dispute resolution skills, especially in areas such as patent infringement and licensing disputes, as well as other IP disputes," said Sheldon. "Many neutrals lack the technical or scientific expertise to apply IP concepts in a mediation or arbitration setting; many clients and counsel seek such assistance in their advocacy roles." Weinstein added, "We seek to combine the best of both worlds - facilitative negotiating skill as well as IP evaluative expertise - with the core goal of providing litigants and their counsel with cost efficient and prompt resolution to IP conflicts."
SMRA's Intellectual Property Alternative Dispute Resolution Group will bridge gaps in the three areas: working with general or outside counsel seeking an independent or second opinion on the character and relative strength of an IP matter ("ENE: Early Neutral Evaluation"); courts and counsel in need of skilled IP neutrals; and clients looking for ADR counsel with extensive IP experience to represent them or assist their counsel in ADR proceedings.
Established more than two decades ago, Sheldon Mak Rose & Anderson PC, with a group of 16 attorneys, 12 of whom are registered to practice before the United States Patent & Trademark Office, provides legal services in the substantive areas of patents, copyrights and trademarks, trade secrets and other IP-related disputes, both here and abroad to emerging and established businesses in an array of industries. SMRA lawyers have scientific degrees in fields including chemistry and chemical engineering, biology, bio-engineering, medicine, physics, imaging science, electrical engineering, and mechanical engineering. Headquartered in Pasadena, the firm has offices in Upland, Riverside and Ventura California.
