Les J Weinstein

Antitrust and Intellectual Property, Litigation, Licensing, Arbitration and Mediation

Les J Weinstein's practice primarily involves antitrust, patent and technology litigation and related licensing issues in federal and state courts. Mr. Weinstein is also a registered patent lawyer authorized to practice before the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office. Additionally, he is an American Arbitration Association (and its International Center for Dispute Resolution) Commercial Arbitrator and a member of the following three AAA panels: Patent Panel, Mediation Panel, International Panel and the Large Complex Case Panel. He also serves as an Attorney Settlement ADR Officer under an appointment from the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.

Mr. Weinstein was invited by the Federal Trade Commission to participate in its year-long hearings, where he presented his views on the 2003 Report on Competition, Patent Law and Policy.

Mr. Weinstein began his legal career with an appointment to the U.S. Attorney General's Program for Honor Law Graduates in the Antitrust Division. He was the first registered patent lawyer to serve in the Division. His civil and criminal case assignments involved the pharmaceutical, chemical, electronic, automotive and machine industries, with several of his trial, appellate and legislative assignments involving the patent/antitrust interface. He also facilitated the formation of the Patent Section of the Antitrust Division.

Mr. Weinstein was a featured speaker in 2000 at the first plenary meeting of the All China Bar Association in Beijing, China on the topic of China, the WTO and Antitrust Law Enforcement. In 1999, he was a DecisionQuest-featured trial lawyer in The American Lawyer and The National Law Journal. In 1998, he lectured to The Korean Intellectual Property Association, Seoul, Korea (The Patent- Antitrust Interface: Risks and Opportunities). For several years he served on the Advisory Committee and presented on various intellectual property and antitrust-related topics at the PricewaterhouseCoopers Leadership Conferences.
